Pride: Interpretations from Queer Youth
All ages, free!*
Friday, July 5th, 6-9pm (there will be a drag show starting at ~7:30pm which we encourage you to attend, but the gallery will be open for viewing, either way)!
PIFQY is a collaborative, 8 piece, mixed media art show by LGBTQIA2S+ youth in Marrow’s community, facilitated by Marrow collective members Momo and Teddy.
Each of the 8 pieces was assigned a color scheme and and theme from the original Pride flag’s 8 colors and their corresponding color meanings. The pieces were up for June (pride month!), for any LGBTQIA2S+ youth to come in, take off the wall, and work on - and now the finished pieces are on display!
"We feel that Pride month has been overrun with capitalism and so to take away from that we want to create a place for youth to work on art that is focused on Pride month and the history of the flag." - Marrow collective members and exhibition facilitators Momo and Teddy. They’ve chosen to donate the proceeds from the sold pieces toward Marrow’s rent costs.
Thank you to St Johns Ace Hardware for sponsoring this show by donating materials!
