PDX Alliance for Self Care Volunteer Orientation

  • Free*

  • Monday, February 18th 6:30-8:30pm

PDX Alliance for Self Care is a local nonprofit working to make self-care resources more accessible for marginalized and vulnerable communities. They are hosting a volunteer orientation to introduce people to what they have been doing and volunteer opportunities for the future!

Via their website:

“For communities of color, refugees, activists, and other vulnerable and marginalized groups, simply existing requires a lot of extra work. These groups often make lower incomes and have to deal with both covert and overt acts of racism, sexism, xenophobia, transphobia and the like, day after day.

At PDX ASC, our mission is to change this by connecting marginalized and vulnerable communities with self-care resources, practitioners and events.

In addition, we will offer diversity training for practitioners wanting to help.

Because most self-care practitioners in our city are white, we will require cultural competency and diversity training to white practitioners, to increase safe access to traditionally white healing spaces for marginalized communities, and to reinforce the truth that self-care is for all people.”
