Kat Lawlis Printed Works Exhibition Opening!
3-6pm, free event with refreshments, interactive art activity, and socialization!
Kat Lawlis is Marrow's Artist in Residence, join us for the opening of her exhibition in our space!
Kat graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Painting and completed her Masters of Arts in Teaching from Lewis and Clark College. She has led high school and middle school art programs in a variety of settings including Trillium Charter School and iQ Academy. Kat strives to empower teenagers to take ownership of their authentic selves and to express their creativity in any and all forms. As an artist, Kat has experience as a small business owner in functional ceramic ware and is currently completing a body of works on paper. In this series, Kat explores the beauty of Pacific North West Coast Native Indian design and what it means to respect aboriginal art forms.
We especially invite any teens to come by who might be interested in Kat's Open Studio, which takes place at Marrow every Wednesday afternoon (3-5pm). Open Studio is a FREE, drop-in time for any teen who is (or may be!) interested in art - whether you’re hoping to put together a portfolio for college, learn new techniques or just looking for a fun environment to doodle or experiment with new mediums. (No art experience or materials necessary, just come by!)
There will be free refreshments and an opportunity to socialize, see Marrow’s space, check out Kat’s work, and get to know her better as a working artist!
